I will speak about the domestic violence.
Domestic violence is an aggression against a person in the family.
Most often it’s the father or the stepfather who hits the women of the family.
But that might be the boyfriend.
For example in the Freedom Writers diary, in diary 63, a girl says that her boyfriend hits her.
She explains that at first it was a slight shove and gradually it became more intense.
He was calling her names.
He locked her in his garage or bathroom.
She was scared of his voice; she says that it was frightening.
She compares her situation with a fire, her boyfriend was the oxygen and she was the flame and together they made the fuel. So this mixture made fire.
She tells her life, her situation because she has reading a book the Color Purple.
